The Christian-Jewish dialogue has evidenced significant development in the decade or more since Vatican Council II's historic declaration on the Church and the Jewish people. The principal thrust of the early encounter between Jews and Christians was the elimination of classical antisemitic stereotypes of Jews, especially the so-called "deicide charge."
