Holman Old Testament commentary, v.15: Isaiah
Isaiah was aprophet in Judah over a period of forty years. His ministry paralleled the rule of four kings: Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah. The name Isaiah means the Lord saves, which is a concise summary of his prophecy. Isaiah 6: 1 tells us Isaiah received his call in the year that King Uzziah died, which can be dated at approximately 740 B.C...
