C. S. Lewis: the man and his achievement
C.S Lewis died - as did President Kennedy - on the afternoon of Friday 22nd November 1963, just a week before his sixty-fifth birthday. Unlike the smitten American politician, he did so in the familiar and peaceful surroundings of his own home, " The Kilns,' in Oxford. Since September 1961 he had been in essence an invalid, with all the restrictions and annoying difficulties which that term implies, and he had clearly accepted the encroachment of death but said nothing to his fiends.
