More meditations on the New Testament and Psalms
George Morrison was a brilliant Scottish theologian who ministered in the late 1800's and early 1900's. He wrote devotionals on all of the New Testament books. These commentaries are brilliant on many levels. His theology is rock-solid. He does not stray from the essential tenets of the Christian faith. His insights are keen, clearly articulated in accessible language, and relevant to the lives of the modern reader.
Morrison was a well-educated man who put a smattering of literary and historical references in his works. He is not hostile to reason and he puts it in its proper place. Faithfulness to Scripture is Morrison's final authority. He has a great balace between holiness and grace. He has a sunny and optimistic approach. Reading his commentaries has been a distinct privilege for me. It is a real encouragement and a valuable learning experience.
