Far more precious the jewels: perspectives on biblical women
his book provides a good overview of the modern critical approaches to the study of the Hebrew bible. The approaches discussed include, form criticism, redaction criticism, social science analysis, and literary theory. There is also a review of Jewish interpretation of the bible and an overview of the task of feminist scholarship. These are not long sections, but are clear and easy to understand. The in depth study of the women featured (Ruth, Sarah, Hagar and Esther) combine the above mentioned methods into well-crafted analysis. There are extensive notes at the back of each chapter. Overall, the book is easily readable, informative and leaves the reader satisfied.
