The truth war: fighting for certainty in an age of deception
The Truth War: Fighting for Certainty in an Age of DeceptionThe Truth War: Fighting for Certainty in an Age of Deception, meets the high standard for Biblical exegesis that readers of Pastor MacArthur have come to expect. Having read other of his works such as Slave, and The Gospel According to Jesus, I find a certain comfort in his rally call. There is another school of warfare that is inspired primarily from Ephesians 6:10-18. I was taught once upon a time to extrapolate those passages into a constant combat against the 'lower heavens,' grappling with demons so much that I began to forget the sovereignty of God in all things. The Truth War is a reminder that war is not just overcoming attacks from demonic forces "in Jesus' name." That is nickel-and-dime obstruction compared to the war against the higher reaches of Christ -- doctrine, theology and proper exegesis of the gospel. Pastor MacArthur demonstrates that ideas are mighty tools in the minds of false prophets and many within our churches knowingly or not, corrupt the Gospel as the book of Jude warns.
