The beginings of Christology: together with the Lord's supper as a..
Willi Marxsen (1919-1993) was professor of New Testament at the University of Munster in Germany. He also wrote books such as The Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth,Jesus and Easter: Did God Raise the Historical Jesus from the Dead?,Jesus and the Church: The Beginnings of Christianity, etc. This 1979 book is a reissuance of two earlier books, The Beginnings of Christology: A Study in its Problems [1969] and The Lord's Supper as a Christological Problem [1970].
He states, "The New Testament texts are not addressed to me. Whether or not they will address me AFTER the work of exegesis is done is another matter... the author's statements... do not have to do with me. Exegesis involves me only insofar as I am the one who does the exegesis---it is MY language and MY concepts in which the old statements are rephrased." (Pg. 21)
