Horvat qitmit: an edomite shrine in the biblical...
The final report on Horvat Qitmit is an interdisciplinary study of a single-period site dating from the end of the First Temple period. The distinctive characteristics of the ceramic material and its association with Edomite script, both foreighn to the Judaean Negev, reveal a material culture originating in the kingdom of Edom. The plethora of figurines and dearth of domestic vessels in an open-air shrine with unique architecture identify Horvat Qitmit as a cult complex isolated form contemporary neigh bouring Judahite sites.
