The beginnings of Christianity part 1, v.5 : the Acts of the Apostles

The Preface certainly begins with a description of the contents of the 'first book' the Gospel according to Luke but as it stands at present it gives a very imperfect summary, and alludes to a period of forty days which the Gospel gives no hint. Moreover, the text of the Preface has obviously suffered in transmission, and though some of the details remain obscure, in two o three of the efforts to improve it attempts can be recognized to deal with the difficulty of interpretation.
