The eternal generation of the son: maintaining.., c.1-2
This book began as a proposed journal article in reply to the growing number of contemporary conservative evangelicals who are either uncertain about or advocate abandoning the doctrine of the eternal generation of the Son. It is hugely important because it was the focal issue in the fourth century conflict between the Arian theologians and the Nicene fathers, including Augustine; it is twice affirmed in both the Nicene and Athanasian Creeds; it is endorsed by the reformation and Post-Reformation Protestant confessions, and it is foundational for the Orthodox doctrine of the Trinity.
