The last twenty years of Dorner's life were clouded by the dementia of his youngest son - a youth of the brightest promise, who, while pursuing his gymnasium studies, was overtaken with the disease from which he has never recovered. To those who knew the intensely domestic and affectionate nature of the man, the manner in which he bore this trial was a touching revelation of the depth of his Christian faith and resignation
